What are the dimensions of the portable camera slider? When disassembled in its compact state, footprint of the 4-foot slider is 14″L x 5″W x 3.125″H. The 2-foot will have the same length and width but half the height.
The individual track pieces vary in length from 12.38″ to 13″L x 5″W x 0.75″H.
How much does it weigh and what is the payload? The 4-foot slider weighs 5.40 lbs and the 2-foot weighs 3.25 lbs. The slider is designed to hold up to 10 lbs of gear.
How do the quick revolve legs work? The legs are attached on to the track by high precision needle bearings. These permit the legs to rotate freely in one direction and not in the other, which allows them to support weight. All you have to do is rotate the legs into your desired position and it’s ready to go.
How smooth is the movement? The carriage uses four stainless steel wheels with two precision roller bearings per wheel to ensure smooth rolling motion. The track is made using high precision milling machines and the sections are designed to hook together resulting in a virtually seamless connection.
How do you configure different track lengths?Sidebeam is the only 4-foot slider that includes a 2 and 3-foot slider built in! It’s quick setup allows you to build the track one foot at a time by adding or subtracting track sections. The minimum length is 2′ but there is no cap on the maximum! Additional supports will be required of course.
Is there a motorized version? We definitely plan to add a motor kit that can be attached so that you can create timelapses and repeatable moves. This is the next order of business once the manual version performs to our standard.
How can I order a Sidebeam? We will be launching a crowdfunding campaign soon where you will be able to pre-order a slider before the general public. To find out when you can pre-order, sign up below!
